Work permit applications can only be made by UK based employers on behalf of the individual they wish to employ. Overseas companies are not eligible to apply for work permit.

Work permits are not transferable, between people or jobs, so if an individual who already holds a work permit wishes to change jobs or their employer the new employer must apply for a fresh work permit.

WHAT IS WORK PERMIT?

A work permit is a document that, when used together with other relevant papers such as a passport or visa, allows a person overseas to enter the United Kingdom to work.

The individual presents the work permit to an immigration officer at the port of entry so they can be granted leave to enter and remain in the United Kingdom to work.

Some people also need a visa to leave their own country. They must obtain this document from the relevant authorities before travelling.
